Switched from a French press to this bombilla and the spoon-shaped bottom really does keep the leaves out of my mouth. Cleaning takes a little rinsing, but that's true of any bombilla.
I've been drinking yerba maté for years and this bombilla finally lets me skip the whole straining mess. The classic spoon shape sits nicely in the gourd and I barely get any leaf bits through it.
The spoon-shaped bottom filters the leaves out so well that I barely get any grit in my mouth anymore. Took me a couple tries to figure out the right tilt, but once I did, it's been smooth sipping every morning.
